Ormonde Construction

Project Droughill

The Droughill Housing project entailed the construction of 26 new residences, comprising a mix of 18 two-storey terraced houses and 8 single-storey semi-detached houses. These structures were constructed with timber frame, blockwork, and featured a white render finish on external walls.

The individual house sizes ranged from 90 to 100 square meters, with special attention given to designing the bungalows to be fully wheelchair accessible. Every residence boasted front and rear gardens, with the rear gardens abutting existing boundary walls and adjacent properties. The house facades offered scenic views of green public landscaped areas.

Each dwelling came with front parking, with grouped parking incorporated into the landscaped area, promoting a streetscape free from an overwhelming dominance of cars.
Site Work
Site work included the installation of a new foul pumping station and a stormwater attenuation system.

Comprehensive connections were made for Irish Water, covering foul and storm road crossings.

The project faced notable challenges, including operating within a built-up area surrounded by existing housing on three sides, with access via a roundabout just off the main road.
