Ormonde Construction delivered the new purpose-built headquarters and training facility for Shorcontrol Safety in Naas, Co. Kildare, creating a distinctive flagship building to support the continued growth of the company. The development provides specialist training facilities together with modern office and staff accommodation. A defining feature of the building is its extensive use of timber, including an exposed glulam structural frame, presentation staircase and bespoke timber elements throughout.
The glulam frame extends externally to form a striking colonnade along the front elevation, giving the building a distinctive architectural identity. Internally, a double-height atrium creates a bright and welcoming central space serving the classrooms and offices, with views towards the landscaped riverside setting at the rear of the site.
The completed development combines functionality, sustainability and high-quality craftsmanship to create a modern training and working environment for Shorcontrol Safety. The quality and innovative use of timber within the project was recognised nationally, with the development receiving a Highly Commended Award at the 2024 Wood Awards Ireland.
