The project at St Gerard’s School in Bray, Co. Wicklow involved a significant programme of extension, refurbishment and restoration works at St Gerard’s School in Bray, Co. Wicklow, providing enhanced educational facilities while working within a live and operational school environment.
The project involved the demolition of the existing general-purpose hall and redundant ancillary buildings, followed by the construction of a new three-storey school extension and two-storey infill extension.
Extensive alteration and refurbishment works were also undertaken within the existing Junior School and two-storey Secondary School building, together with the careful restoration of the protected structure and upgrades to the associated buildings.
A key challenge was delivering a substantial construction programme while the school remained operational. The works were therefore carefully planned and completed over three distinct phases, requiring close coordination of construction activities, deliveries, access and safety to minimise disruption to students, staff and the day-to-day operation of the school.
The completed development demonstrates Ormonde Construction’s experience in delivering complex educational projects, combining new construction, refurbishment and protected structure restoration within a live school environment.
