Ormonde Construction delivered a major redevelopment project at Gowran Park Racecourse, Co. Kilkenny, providing a modern new weighroom and enhanced facilities for jockeys, racing officials and the media.
The works involved the demolition of the existing jockeys’ weighroom and the construction of a new two-storey facility. The development includes modern male and female jockey changing areas, weighroom and declarations facilities, media and stewards’ rooms, dining and kitchen facilities, together with lift and stair access.
Externally, the building incorporates limestone-clad elements, a first-floor balcony and natural slate roofing, creating a high-quality finish that complements the established racecourse setting.
The project was undertaken within a busy operational racecourse environment, requiring careful planning and coordination around the racing calendar and existing facilities.
Successfully completed on time and within budget, the new facility provides Gowran Park with a modern, high-quality environment for jockeys and racing personnel while enhancing the overall race-day experience.
The project demonstrates Ormonde Construction’s ability to combine quality workmanship, programme management and attention to detail in the delivery of specialist sporting and commercial facilities.
