Ormonde Construction delivered the Callan Primary Care Centre and Neighbourhood Centre at Westcourt, Callan, Co. Kilkenny, creating a modern healthcare and community-focused development on a brownfield site.The development incorporates a 3,000 sq. ft. GP surgery, together with a pharmacy, retail units and associated parking, service yards and landscaped external areas.The Primary Care Centre received a comprehensive fit-out to meet HSE requirements.
Works included acoustic partitions with carefully sealed penetrations to maintain acoustic and fire integrity, vinyl flooring with coved skirtings, suspended ceilings, sanitary facilities, tiling and fitted furniture. The project also included extensive mechanical and electrical installations and fire-protection works throughout the facility.
Located adjacent to the local secondary school and immediately in front of Strathmore Lodge Nursing Home, careful management of the site was essential. Access to the nursing home had to be maintained throughout the construction period, while existing services were also diverted to facilitate the development.
The completed project provides a high-quality and accessible healthcare facility and demonstrates Ormonde Construction’s ability to successfully deliver specialist healthcare projects within constrained and active environments.
