Castle Oaks at Breagagh Valley, Kilkenny is a major phased residential development comprising 265 homes, including a mix of private and social housing delivered for Clúid Housing, Ormonde Homes (Breagagh) and Kilkenny County Council.
Located close to Kilkenny City, the development incorporates a range of house types providing modern, energy-efficient A-rated homes within a carefully planned residential neighbourhood.The phased nature of the development required detailed programming and sequencing, with residential construction progressing alongside the delivery of extensive roads, footpaths, drainage networks, utilities, landscaping and associated site infrastructure.
The site also presented significant engineering challenges. Its sloping topography required extensive cut-and-fill works, stepped foundations and reinforced concrete retaining walls. The development’s proximity to the Breagagh River required environmental protection measures and ongoing monitoring, while existing overhead electricity infrastructure was successfully rerouted underground.
The successful phased delivery of 265 private and social homes demonstrates Ormonde Construction’s capability to manage large-scale, mixed-tenure residential developments while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, coordination and programme management throughout each phase.
