Ormonde Construction delivered the development of a major retail showroom for Meubles at Smithlands Retail Park, Kilkenny, creating a high-quality retail environment for one of Ireland’s longest-established furniture and homewares businesses. The project involved the construction of a substantial two-storey retail showroom, incorporating a structural steel frame, precast hollowcore first-floor construction, precast concrete stairs and lift access.
The external envelope included extensive curtain walling, rainscreen cladding and architectural panel systems, creating a modern and distinctive commercial building. A significant element of the project was the internal fit-out of the showroom and office areas. Works included raised access flooring, suspended ceilings, feature bulkheads, specialist lighting and high-quality finishes designed to create an attractive and flexible retail environment.
Careful planning and coordination were required to successfully integrate the development with the surrounding retail park while maintaining access and minimising disruption to ongoing operations.
The completed project demonstrates Ormonde Construction’s experience in delivering large-scale retail developments where build quality, architectural detailing and high-quality internal finishes are of equal importance.
